RIC Chairman Letter
How about that inaugural Reman Day?! Many thanks to everyone who participated in the first ever Global Reman Day.  Due to the outstanding efforts of remanufacturers around the world, RIC Reman Association Alliance partners and Reman World, I am pleased to say that we had 127 locations register in 17 countries on 6 continents. In addition, we received proclamations / resolutions from 8 states, the US Congress, and two cities. Be sure to mark your calendar on April 11, 2019 for the next Global Reman Day.

As this initiative winds down, we are gearing up for several others. You will see below that nominations have opened up for the RIC Reman ACE Awards. I am encouraging everyone to get their nominations in right away. In addition to our Reman Association Alliance Partners, our R&D Committee will be hosting a workshop and facility tours in Springfield, Missouri July 24-25, 2018. Lastly, the RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference is on September 19-20, 2018. This year, exhibitors will be at the conference displaying products and services that support our industry. If you are interested in exhibiting, email Jenn Brake at jbrake@remancouncil.org or go on the website to learn more. It’s a great time to be in the remanufacturing industry. Keep up the great work.
Best regards,

RIC Reman ACE Award Nominations

Reman ACE Awards
Nominations are now open for the RIC Remanufacturing ACE Awards. The ACE Awards are awarded to an inspiring person or company that is recognized for their leadership in creating positive change for the remanufacturing industry.

The RIC Remanufacturing ACE Awards are based on RIC’s mission to ADVOCATE, COLLABORATE, and EDUCATE on behalf of the entire remanufacturing industry. The three award categories include:
  • Advocate:  This category looks at how the nominee promotes remanufacturing and sustainability in business, government, education or other field.
  • Collaborate: This category looks at how the nominee works with other companies, regulatory bodies and lawmakers to build consensus and team work in order to promote remanufacturing and other sustainable practices.
  • Educate:  This category looks at how the nominee demonstrates a passion toward educating others about the many benefits of remanufacturing.

Winners will be announced at the RIC Remanufacturing ACE Awards dinner on September 19th at the RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference.
R&D Workshop & Facility Tour - 7/24-25
The RIC Research and Development committee is hosting a workshop and facility tour in Springfield, Missouri July 24-25, 2018. Springfield is the home of a large number of remanufacturers including  SRC Holdings, John Deere, and CNH Industrial. The event will address workforce development with an education panel discussion of area college representatives including Ozark Technical College (OTC). OTC recently implemented remanufacturing as part of their curriculum.

Registration is open. This event is for RIC members only. If you are not a member of the RIC and are interested in attending, please contact Jenn Brake at jbrake@remancouncil.org.
RIC Director Spotlight
Bill Davies

Bill Davies
Davies Office
President
RIC Immediate Past Chair
What do you do in your current role?
My job and focus has changed and evolved from my earlier days. Today I am focused on assisting the next generation of leaders at Davies Office as they formalize the strategy and structure of our organization for the years ahead. I also am engaged in a parallel path with my involvement in the RIC transitioning from Chair to Immediate Past Chair as we continue our growth and journey in Reman.

How long have you been in the remanufacturing industry?
I would like to say that I was born into Reman. My Grandfather had a cabinet shop where he restored and refinished fine furniture. So even as a young person I witnessed how to bring things back to a like new condition. I formally became involved in the overall Reman Industry after meeting Nabil Nassar at RIT. Nabil was, and still is today, passionate about the potential of the Reman and the importance of its role. I was involved with the initial formation of the Remanufacturing Industries Council with Nabil and such pioneers as Lester Cornelius who was our first President in 1994. I have been active ever since.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
Watching the creative team we have at Davies Office bring things back to life and the positive impact it has had on many families and individuals. Also, seeing the embracement of Reman and sustainable practices in our economy and throughout the world. Allowing me to work with dedicated and passionate people at RIC and other organizations that promote Reman.

Why did you get involved with RIC?
As I said, I got involved with the RIC after meeting Nabil and he drafted me, along with others, to start the RIC in the early 1990’s. I recognized that becoming a part of RIC I could contribute and make a difference with others of like mind. I thank God for giving me the abilities to contribute and the opportunity to meet a number of passionate people all committed to doing the same. These people I can now call friends as believing in the benefits and promotion of Reman every day.
